Nonmembers CPAs pay an additional $21.25 per credit hour for CE classes; nonmember CPAs will be held responsible for paying this additional amount.
This presentation will acquaint CPAs with rules and strategies for qualifying for financial aid. An emphasis will be placed on how colleges and universities determine financial need and the ways for families to best position themselves to increase the amount of financial aid provided.
Learning Objective(s): Attendees will understand
- the methodologies that colleges and universities use to calculate the Estimated Family Contribution and the Cost of Attendance
- how assets and income are assessed in order to determine the need for financial aid
- FAFSA and CSS profile
- strategies to reduce the impact of assets and income on the determination of the funds available to pay for college
- tax strategies to optimize the EFC
Prerequisites: The method of presentation is group-live instruction and the program level is basic. There are no prerequisites for this course nor is there any advanced preparation required.
