Topic 1: Excel 301 – Intermediate Tips and Tricks from an Analyst’s Lens: Data Foundations
In this presentation, attendees will learn how certain Excel functions can be used to establish a data foundation that will result in a meaningful analysis in virtually any setting. Using the Microsoft Dataset – AdventureWorks Extract, specific topics covered include:
- text handling and search/retrieve
- time and error handling
- aggregation functions
- pivot tables and slicers
Learning Objective(s): Participants will gain an understanding of how certain Excel functions can be used to establish a data foundation that will result in a meaningful analysis in virtually any setting.
Prerequisites: The method of presentation is group-live instruction and the program level is intermediate. A basic understanding of Excel is required.
Topic 2: Presenting Data Meaningfully and Accurately
In this presentation, the instructor will
- explain why this topic matters
- look at raw data for a professional association’s event attendance over time
- draw inferences from the data and discuss how to better tell the story of the data
- consider what drives attendance: month, topic presented or other factors
Learning Objective(s): Through an interactive format, participants will learn how to present data meaningfully and accurately.
Prerequisites: The method of presentation is group-live instruction and the program level is basic. There are no prerequisites for this course nor is there any advanced preparation required.
