    Explore issues and make recommendations regarding the specific needs of members in business, industry and government. Focus on members’ ability to provide services to their employers and enhance their professional careers.
  • Member InvolvementWill Holisky & Jordan Johnston
    Ensures the continued growth of the chapter by recruiting and welcoming new members and promoting involvement. Recommends new services to address the changing needs of members. Attends regional CPA Swearing-In Ceremony. Greet members and their guests at Society meetings. Provide a forum for the involvement and development of leadership skills. Plans and coordinates a variety of activities at chapter level. Encompasses all SACPAS members, regardless of age or experience.
  • Golf Tournament Task ForceArturo Machado & Chuck Clark
    Plan and administer the annual CPA Golf Tournament benefiting the Scholarship & Academic Matching Gifts Fund. Work concentrated between February and May.
  • Young Accounting Professionals (YAP) — Julie Spurlock & David Higginbotham
    Encompasses TXCPA-SA members between the ages of 21 and 40 who are CPAs or are working to become CPAs. Seeks to bring together young accounting professionals for networking and professional growth opportunities.

External Relations Council

  • CPA Volunteer BankJacqui Belcher, coordinator
    Provide speakers to local organizations on request. Place CPAs on the Boards of Directors of nonprofit agencies. Promote volunteerism in community functions.
  • Funlympics
    Organize and coordinate Funlympics, a half-day sporting event for at-risk children. Work is concentrated between May and July.
  • Education & Accounting CareersMark Goldman
    Support the TXCPA Career Awareness initiatives designed to attract high quality students to the accounting profession. Administer the Accounting Excellence Award and Education Foundation Matching Funds Programs. Administer the Accounting Scholarship Program. Plan & coordinate accounting career workshops.
  • Financial Literacy/Jr Duel in Ol’ San Antonio — Josh Wagner & Jennifer Cadena
    Promote activities that increase financial literacy for citizens in the community. Organize and coordinate Jr. Duel in Ol’ San Antonio, a high school personal finance case competition. Work is concentrated between September and March.

Continuing Education Council

  • CE AdvisorySusan Hough & ​Nancy Ozuna
    Serve as an advisory group for scheduling professional and volunteer seminars including annual updates, new issues and hot topics designed to meet the needs of CPAs practicing in a rapidly evolving profession. Plan and coordinate speakers and topics for large events, such as Member Appreciation Day and Symposium. Promote these events to CPAs throughout South Texas.

Regulatory & Legislative Council

  • Professional Ethics — ​
    Assist in answering ethics questions of members. Provide the means for filing of complaints by other CPAs or the public. Assist TXCPA Professional Ethics Committee in determining cases to be heard for possible infractions.
